Look through the basic wedding dress styles and match to your body type to help you find your perfect wedding dress on

The Basic Wedding Dress Styles:

1.A-Line Princess:  This dress hugs the bodice, flaring from the waist to the hem.

2.Empire waist: This dress has a high waist-line so that the dress begins to flare just below the bust.

3.Ball Gown: This dress has a large, puffy skirt.

4.Sheath: This dress has straight lines chasing the curves of body.

5.Mermaid: This dress is fitted along the bodice and the hips, but flares out at the edge of the knee.

6.Tea-length: This dress only goes up to the knee.

The Basic Body Shapes:


Best Dress: A-line/ Princess or Tea-length.  

Avoid: Ball Gown/Full skirt and strapless dresses.

Tips: Keep bridal accessories to a minimum so as not to look over-loaded.

Short Midsection: 

Best Dress: A-line/Princess or Empire. 

Avoid: Ball Gown

Tips:  Drop the waistline of the dress to below your hips, and draw attention to the top part of you with accessories.


 Best Dress: A-line/Princess or Ball Gown/Full Skirt.

Avoid: Spaghetti Straps.


Best Dress: Mermaid or A-line/ Princess. 

Avoid: Tea-length

Tips: For A-line dresses, drop the waist of the dress to below your hips and try a sweetheart neckline to emphasise your bust.

Pear Shape:

Best Dress: Empire. 

Avoid:  Mermaid as it will draw attention to your bottom. 

Tips: Leave some of your hair down and sweep up the rest to create a balanced look.


Best Dress: Ball Gown or Sheath. 


Best Dress: Sheath 

Avoid: Empire dresses and bouquets that are too small or large.

Broad Shoulders:

Best Dress: Strapless

Avoid:  Halter necks and off-the-shoulder lines

Big Arms:

Best Dress: Three-quarter or long sleeves in solid fabrics off-the-shoulder straps or a sheer fabric

Tips: Try loose-fitting sleeves
