Glovo, Africa’s leading multicategory app, has embarked on a strategic partnership with multinational pizza restaurant chain Domino’s Pizza to enhance the accessibility of affordable meals for consumers across Kenya. This collaboration aims to amplify Domino’s customer base and provide an efficient channel for customers to enjoy their favorite meals from the comfort of their homes.
Through this partnership, consumers can anticipate a seamless experience when ordering Domino’s products via the Glovo app. The alliance is set to guarantee customers swift deliveries within 25 minutes, without any delivery charges for orders exceeding KES 800. This mutual goal is driven by a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience, from the point of purchase to the final doorstep delivery.
Notably, Domino’s Pizza is the exclusive brand on the Glovo platform that offers complimentary delivery for orders surpassing KES 800. This initiative echoes Domino’s dedication to offering customers value for their money while promoting affordable enjoyment.
Caroline Mutuku, the Country Manager of Glovo Kenya, shared her enthusiasm about this partnership, highlighting its potential to make meals more accessible to consumers through the Glovo platform: “We are excited to partner with Domino’s Pizza, a brand synonymous with quality and taste. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to provide customers with diverse choices and unmatched convenience. Now, in addition to our existing offerings, customers can indulge in the delight of Domino’s signature pizzas, making their dining experience even more enjoyable.”
Analyzing insights from the previous year, Glovo’s data revealed that in 2022, the app delivered a pizza every 4 minutes in Kenya, reflecting a remarkable 23% growth in the pizza category compared to 2021. This growth trend has been consistent over the last three years, positioning Kenya as the second-largest African market for pizza units delivered by Glovo, trailing only Ivory Coast. The collaboration between Glovo and Domino’s Pizza is expected to fuel the expansion of the pizza category to meet the escalating demand from consumers.
Peter Jones, the Managing Director of Eat’N’Go Kenya, emphasized Domino’s commitment to customer satisfaction and the potential of this partnership to elevate the dining experience: “At Domino’s, our goal has always been to deliver happiness through delicious, affordable pizzas. This partnership allows us to bring that happiness directly to the doorsteps of more customers. Leveraging Glovo’s local expertise in the quick commerce industry, we believe this partnership will not only enable us to offer fast and convenient home delivery service that allows us to maintain exceptional service delivery but also expand our customer base.”
Peris Gitau, the Marketing Manager for Domino’s Pizza, highlighted the alignment between the partnership and Domino’s innovative strategies: “Our customers’ lifestyle trends have changed, and service delivery is a key component of customer satisfaction. Customers expressed their satisfaction hugely; with the extra time, they save to get their pizzas faster than before. The 25 Minutes innovation strategy enables us to serve our customers better and solidifies our position as the industry leaders driving happiness with every order of our freshly baked hot pizzas.”
Consumers in Nairobi and Mombasa can already enjoy the benefits of this partnership, with plans to extend its reach to other cities in the upcoming months. This collaboration not only aims to provide accessible and affordable meals but also enhances the overall customer experience in the evolving digital age.
