Brookside Dairy, one of the largest milk processors in Kenya has entered into a strategic partnership with the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers for better market visibility in the hospitality sector. This is meant to cash in on quality enhancement across its variety of dairy products tohalbigger volumes of this captive market.
Mr. Joseph Muguongo, Brookside Dairy’s General Manager for Sales, reiterated that the company focuses on growing its market share through applicable strategic investments along its product value chain. The company has partnered with the national hoteliers’ umbrella body in offering value for their money to Brookside’s customers. He said that the partnership with the hoteliers was part of the market consolidation plan by Brookside, where hospitality and catering outlets remain one of its critical sales segments.
Speaking at the KAHC annual symposium in Diani, Kwale County, Mr. Muguongo said Brookside will ensure orders to supply from hoteliers countrywide get the first priority. He handed a cheque for a cash donation of Ksh 1 million and gave product samples and merchandise valued at Ksh 700,000 as sponsorship toward the symposium. Additionally, he mentioned that with the largest dairy sales footprint in the region, Brookside is better placed to serve markets across all corners of the country.
Mr. Mike Macharia, KAHC’s CEO, hailed Brookside for the continued support of this association for years. He expressed that the members of KAHC—owners and managers in star-rated hotels, restaurants, lodges, tented camps, and residential cottages—are key in terms of market size with sizeable consumption of dairy products and at the forefront in demand for excellent products. The partnership was announced at the annual hoteliers’ symposium, which is a forum for brainstorming by stakeholders in the hospitality industry on strategies to market Kenya as a premier tourist destination.
Mr. Macharia has also commended the efforts of the Government in improving tourism infrastructure, notably the road network, that facilitates ease of access to hospitality facilities countrywide. Indeed, with the improvement of this infrastructure, there will be a serious marketing impetus for the tourism and hospitality industries of Kenya.
