NCBA Bank has introduced a new policy that took effect on July 1, whereby it eliminated all monthly charges on its retail banking accounts in a bid to attract more customers.

The change applies to all current account products and new accounts taken out by prospective customers. Evidently, banks usually charge a monthly maintenance fee for checking or savings accounts, in case one does not meet certain conditions. This new approach, taken by NCBA, eliminates the fees for several consumer banking accounts, including among others, the following accounts:

  • Salary Account
  • Platinum Flexi
  • Platinum Pay as you Go
  • Gold Pay as you Go
  • Premier – All-in-One
  • Platinum All-in-One
  • Gold All-in-One

The fee waiver also extends to commercial and small and medium enterprise accounts, such as:

  • Your Business Current
  • Gold
  • Platinum

“We realized with the current economic landscape the customer values every shilling and by eliminating the monthly account maintenance fees for both local and foreign currency accounts, our goal is to provide a product that ensures the customer gets the full value of their money,” says Tirus Mwithiga, a director of retail banking at the NCBA Group.

The Bank is working on the strategy to promote customer growth and improve retail banking reach, improving access while making the services more affordable to customers.
